Regarding the many definitions of creativity, I want to mention the mathematician Henri Poincaré who argues that creativity is “to connect existing elements with new useful connections”.
We can also say that creativity corresponds to a new way of applying an existing rule, otherwise to the transformation of an existing rule or to the creation of a new rule.
Creativity is variation, alteration, mutation, correction, conversion, transfiguration; it is improvement, refinement, empowerment and renewal. Creativity is a present force in every natural element, it’s the generating and producing force, it’s the source of life. Creativity is the innate force of nature to perpetually change, infinitely transform the present to create a new tomorrow and its continuous becoming. Essentially, creativity is the yearning, the desire for changing.
Knowing our creative power allows us to investigate, refine, exploit the tools in our possession, our potential and the opportunities we own to change a reality that is incomplete or even unsatisfactory for us. Creativity allows us to find solutions.
Creativity is the opportunity to resolve a conflict and desire is the imagination’s driving force that binds its realization. In the realization, we give freedom to emotions and potential, but we also know ourselves, we recognize ourselves, we challenge ourselves and we renew ourselves. And that threshold that we cross in our research offers to overcome an inner separation, it allows us to heal wounds and change those inadequate responses to life, those reactions that make everyday life more difficult.
Art gives awareness and transforms consciousness, creativity puts us in front of ourselves and the possibility of communicating with a neglected and forgotten part.
The creative process leads to moments in which we clearly perceive the boundary between the conscious and the unconscious, and our work is a mirror in which to observe ourselves and find what belongs to us. In short, art opens the gates to inner expression, inner freedom, life in itself. Crossing the threshold means going ahead and it is an act of love towards ourselves and towards the very reality that surrounds us, since the resulting works communicate to ourselves and to anyone around us who wishes to listen. Art has a beneficial, healing, curative power because it allows us to communicate the present reality and change it.
Albert Einstein argued that creativity is nothing more than intelligence having fun. After all, we have one life and no one can know how long it will really be. We can choose to live it with anger, regret or seeking pleasure in every possible area. To live this life with pleasure, we need to be aware of our emotions and sensations, our thoughts and feelings. And above all,our potential.
